I enjoy talking about my books to groups of readers — at literary festivals, in libraries, or for book groups.  Since lockdown these have been on zoom, so I can join a group wherever it meets. I’d be happy to  hear from you if you would like me to talk to a group you are connected with.

Wednesday 6th October 2021: Marlow Refugee Action

From September 2021:
‘Untold Stories’ – interviews with remarkable women writers:

In this new series of on-line interviews I will be introducing women writers who have uncovered hidden family stories or written a biography of a creative life. How they each came to write their books is almost as interesting as the books themselves.

Hosted by the National Women’s Register but open to anyone, free.
Thursdays @ 7pm – book at

23 Sept 2021 — JUDY SIMONS, The Northern Line: The history of a provincial Jewish family

21 Oct 2021 — HELEN MARQUARD, The Musical Life: Hedwig Stein, emigrée pianist

18 Nov 2021 — MERILYN BRASON, The Bamboo Bracelet: a true story

9 Dec 2021 — MARTHA LEIGH, Invisible Ink: a family memoir

And … flipping back in time ….
My last live event before the pandemic hit — in north-east Somerset. Here’s a clipping from a local paper — imagine, 60 of us, all in one room!

And look what someone just found… If you look really carefully (bottom right corner) you’ll see that National Book Tokens have included my novel Somewhere More Simple in their photo of popular books you might want to buy !

  1. Thoroughly enjoyed Marion’s Q & A session with a group of local readers, followed the next day by an inspirational workshop, presented in Marion’s generous and gentle way, think about why writing matters, and what we all have to share from our own life experience.
